Designs That Speak - "Hatti Kaapi" I picked up the pack of Hatti Kaapi, expecting just another coffee label, but the story on the back drew me in. Right there, amid the usual details, was a heartfelt journey that spoke of roots, tradition, and an inspiring mission. Learning that 'Hatti' means a humble home and that the brand is rooted in the essence of regional coffee brought a sense of warmth to my heart. Their journey from serving Filter Coffee in South India to becoming a symbol of authentic flavors and ethical practices across the country truly resonated with me. But what moved me the most was their commitment to the community—how they embrace diversity by employing differently-abled individuals and senior citizens. Hatti Kaapi isn’t just about coffee; it's about making a difference, creating opportunities, and carrying forward a culture with pride. This small message on the packaging reminded me that every cup I enjoy is part of something much bigger, a sip of tradition and purpose. Thank you, Hatti Kaapi, for not only nourishing my senses but also touching my soul. hatti kaapi food and beverage ltd. 🌍 An Immersive Experience at World Food India 2024: Innovation, Collaboration, and Culture 🌱 I had the incredible opportunity to visit World Food India 2024 in New Delhi, a flagship event organized by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries to promote India’s growing role as a global leader in food innovation. Running from September 19-22, 2024, the event offers an unparalleled platform for businesses, startups, and global food leaders to connect, share insights, and collaborate on the future of food processing. The scale of the event was truly impressive, showcasing the breadth of India’s food processing value chain. From innovative food processing equipment and cold chain storage solutions to discussions on R&D, logistics, and the importance of sustainability, there was something for every industry stakeholder. I visited a variety of engaging stalls, including Nestle India, MTR, Topps, Haldiram, Kellogg’s, and Tata, all of which demonstrated their commitment to cutting-edge technology and sustainability. Particularly exciting were the specialized zones for Organic foods , Pet Food, Beverages, and Post-Harvest Machinery, providing insights into niche areas that are gaining traction globally. One of the highlights was the Start-Up Grand Challenge, where I witnessed game-changing innovations aimed at solving critical challenges in the Indian food processing ecosystem. It was inspiring to see young entrepreneurs and industry disruptors pushing boundaries with technological solutions. Moreover, the event facilitated B2B, B2G, and G2G meetings, fostering important dialogues between policy-makers, industry leaders, and global entrepreneurs. These discussions highlighted key opportunities for collaboration and investment across the industry, particularly in the context of India’s robust Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) ecosystem. The Great Indian Food Street was a unique cultural experience, where Indian ingredients and products were showcased alongside exciting fusion possibilities with global cuisines. This celebration of food heritage, combined with the forward-looking discussions, truly captured the essence of the event—blending tradition with innovation. Attending World Food India 2024 has left me inspired, not only by the scale of innovation but by India’s growing influence in the global food supply chain. I look forward to applying these insights and contributing to this dynamic sector. 📹Adv. As someone who appreciates brands for their unique approaches, this moment truly touched my heart. I recently came across a story from a Delhi restaurant Jumboking franchise that went beyond serving food—it served humanity. A customer received their bill with a heartfelt tribute to techie Atul Subhash. This simple act of remembrance moved me deeply. I believe businesses have a unique opportunity to lead with compassion, and this restaurant sets a powerful example. 📍A small note, yet such a big impact. This story made me reflect on how, as individuals and brands, we can honor people not just for what they do but for who they are. Kudos to the restaurant for their sensitivity and respect. It’s stories like these that make me hopeful for a kinder world. What are your thoughts on how brands can show humanity? ______________________ Dheeraj Gupta LinkedIn LinkedIn News India

Chaayos is a popular tea café chain started by Nitin Saluja and Raghav Verma, two IIT graduates who left their high-paying jobs to follow their passion. The idea for Chaayos came to Nitin while he was in Houston, USA. He and his wife wanted tea after dinner but couldn't find a place that served good chai. This made him realize that even in India, finding chai made to personal taste outside home was not easy. They named their café "Chaayos," combining the Hindi word for tea, "chai," with "chaos," reflecting their creativity with chai flavors. In 2012, they quit their jobs at Opera Solutions, a US consultancy firm, and opened the first Chaayos café in Gurgaon. Today, Chaayos has grown to over 190 outlets in six cities in India. The brand uses technology like IoT-enabled tea bots and a mobile app that lets customers customize their tea. #indiasstartup #Chaayos #StartupStory #ChaiLovers #InnovationInTea #MadeInIndia

🚀 Reimagining Paan: A Unique Opportunity in Indian Food Culture 🌱 Three things about Paan have always piqued my curiosity: 1️⃣ From Street to Premium: The casual (non-tobacco) appeal of paan as a post-meal snack continues to flourish — cutting across genders and is rapidly premiumising. (The kalkatta sada paan in the picture in Gurgaon costed as much as a Cappuccino in a Cafe! Paan courtesy Rajan Malhotra !) 2️⃣ A Food Safety Blind Spot: For the well-heeled consumer, paan remains one of the most unsafe foods. No handle whatsoever on ingredients, quality, adulteration! Unlike pani puri or chaat, which have started to embrace mineral water, no-touch service, and hygiene practices, paan hasn’t caught up. 3️⃣ Lacking Formalisation & Branding: While chaat chains and “bhel-on-the-go” brands thrive, paan is yet to find its footing in formal retail, branding, or standardisation. I firmly believe the size of the opportunity is worth it. (Why should gutka boys have all the fun!) The winners here will come from creativity beyond the usual startup favourites of “no maida, high protein, not fried.” Paan deserves its own transformation - as parlors and as take away for home consumption, just like ice creams. At #SmartBazaar, we actively seek and support innovators tackling ideas like this. Just as we work with solutions for ready-to-eat wheat rotis or packaged coconut water, we’re excited about formalising and organising the paan category. A current collaboration with The Betel Leaf Co, whom we spotted on food delivery platforms, is one such step. But this effort needs a dozen more shots of innovation and a healthy dose of grassroots creativity. This is an India specific idea. This is a personal project yet uncracked. The customer is ready, and so is team #SmartBazaar. My key team allies are Balendu Choudhary & Vallabh Soudagar ! If you’re working on this or know someone who is, let’s connect. Who’s ready to take paan mainstream? 🍃

As I sit down to reflect on our brand’s evolution, I am filled with immense pride and gratitude. What began as a small family business crafting high-quality agarbattis has blossomed into a global FMCG brand. Our story began with a simple idea, to create high-quality agarbattis that would bring peace and calm to homes. One of the key lessons was the importance of listening to our customers. Their feedback shaped our offerings and guided our decisions. As the market evolved, we adapted, staying flexible to new trends, which became one of our greatest strengths. Recognizing the need to diversify, we boldly ventured into the FMCG market. Expanding into new territories required careful planning and a willingness to take risks, all while maintaining our brand essence. Our R&D team consistently experimented with new fragrances and packaging to stay ahead of the curve. Entering the FMCG landscape was a steep learning curve. Our commitment to quality helped us build trust with consumers, ensuring consistency across our product range. The rise of e-commerce opened new doors, allowing us to reach customers like never before, while social media became vital for engaging our audience. We also focused on creating products appealing to a younger, conscious generation, refreshing our brand continually. As a Director, I strive to steer the brand forward, ensuring every decision reflects our core values and vision. Looking back, each milestone represents the hard work of our dedicated team. We’ve built a legacy I’m proud of, one that will inspire future generations. Our journey from agarbatti to FMCG has been remarkable, filled with lessons and triumphs. There’s so much more to achieve, and I’m excited about what lies ahead. #AnkitAgrawalZB #AnkitAgrawal #FromAgarbattiToFMCG #BrandEvolution #CraftingLegacy #CustomerDrivenGrowth #InnovationAndTradition #GlobalReach #ConsciousConsumerism #ECommerceSuccess #ProudHeritage #ShapingTheFuture
